Welcome back to your go-to weekend guide for Katy, Texas! Can you believe we are already heading into August? As we prepare to gear up for a new school year, our local community has lined up an extraordinary weekend of celebration. From archery lessons and Cajun grand openings to an incredible Eagles tribute concert and the massive annual Back to School Bash on the green, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the final stretch of summer.


Friday, July 31, 2026: Archery Demos, Cajun Ribbon Cuttings, and Eagles Hits

  • Friday Yoga on the Green: Beat the heat and kickstart your weekend with a refreshing morning stretch. Head over to LaCenterra’s Central Green Park (23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd) from 8:00 AM to 10:15 AM for a free, peaceful outdoor yoga class. All skill levels are welcome! Be sure to bring your yoga mat, a towel, and plenty of cold water.

  • Frosty Fridays – Archery Demo & Free Ice Cream (Katy City Park): Keep the kids active and cool! Katy Parks & Recreation is hosting its final Frosty Friday of the month at Katy City Park (5850 Franz Rd) from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. This week's event features a hands-on Archery Demo where children can take aim, learn the basics of the sport, and test their skills. Best of all, they will be handing out FREE frozen treats (while supplies last) to help keep everyone refreshed!

  • Chamber Ribbon Cutting: Chef Boobie O's Cajun Cuisines: Celebrate a delicious new addition to our local culinary scene! The Katy Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony for Chef Boobie O's Cajun Cuisines (located nearby at 8620 Grand Mission Blvd, Richmond). Stop by to welcome them, network with local business owners, and check out their "Smackin' Good" Cajun classics and signature house seasonings.

  • Live Music: Texas Eagles (Eagles Tribute Band) at Central Green Park: Take it easy this Friday night! From 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM, the premier tribute band Texas Eagles will take the stage at Central Green Park for a free, live, family-friendly outdoor concert. They are highly regarded for perfectly reproducing the intricate harmonies and timeless music of the Eagles. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and grab some dinner to-go from a local LaCenterra restaurant to sing along to classic hits like "Hotel California" and "Desperado" under the stars.

  • Astros vs. Rangers Watch Party at Home Run Dugout: If you are a sports fan, head over to Home Run Dugout (1220 Grand W Blvd) to watch the Texas Rangers take on the Houston Astros. The game starts at 7:15 PM, and you can enjoy cold drinks, baseball-themed bay rentals, and a great crowd to cheer on your team.


Saturday, August 1, 2026: Morning Tai Chi, Local Markets, and the 13th Annual Back to School Bash

  • Saturday Morning Tai Chi on the Green: Start your Saturday morning with gentle movement and mindfulness. Rose is back on the mat to lead a free, low-impact Tai Chi class at Central Green Park from 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM. It is a wonderful way to stretch, improve balance, and relax before starting a busy weekend.

  • The Old Katy Farmers Market at The Dryer: Katy’s favorite Saturday morning tradition is back! Stop by the historic Dryer site (5339 E 3rd St) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Load up on fresh-picked seasonal produce, delicious artisanal baked goods, sweet local honey, and beautiful handmade crafts from local small businesses.

  • The 13th Annual Back to School Bash at Central Green Park: Summer isn't quite over yet, but it's time to gear up for an unforgettable night! Celebrate Central Green Park's 13th Annual Back to School Bash from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM. This massive, free community event is packed with excitement for the whole family. Enjoy face painting, stilt walkers, fun mascots, and an epic Scavenger Hunt with BIG prizes! Plus, enjoy spectacular live rock-and-roll from RPM and The Bandits. It is the ultimate end-of-summer celebration you won't want to miss!


Sunday, August 2, 2026: Sunday Shopping & Shaded Walks

  • Farmers Market at LaCenterra: Wrap up your weekend with a pleasant Sunday stroll. The weekly Farmers Market at LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch is open from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Explore an array of incredible local vendors offering gourmet spices, handmade soaps, farm-to-table foods, and beautiful fresh-cut flowers.

  • Beat the Heat at No Label Brewing Co. or Mary Jo Peckham Park: Unwind on Sunday afternoon. Enjoy a cold, refreshing craft beer in the shaded, family-and-dog-friendly outdoor yard at No Label Brewing Co. If you prefer a quiet afternoon in nature, pack a picnic and head to the shaded walking paths around the lake at Mary Jo Peckham Park to feed the ducks and relax before the busy week begins.
